ARGOS is a conceptual smart collar and app ecosystem that empowers animal rescue workers to deliver thoughtful, individualized care. From intake and daily routines to training and adoption, ARGOS creates a continuous care journey that extends beyond the shelter and into a pet’s new home. The system enhances animal care, connects workers with adopters, and reduces animals returned to the shelter.
Brand Design
Designed with rescue workers’ demanding environments in mind, ARGOS prioritizes clarity and ease of use. A highly legible typeface with soft, rounded features accented by playful details such as the distinctive lowercase “t” creates an approachable and inviting visual language. A warm color palette establishes a welcoming tone, while teal serves as a strong complementary accent to guide attention and emphasize key elements.
The name ARGOS was inspired by Odysseus’s loyal dog in Greek mythology, reinforcing themes of trust and companionship. This influence is carried through the visual identity: collar patterns reflect motifs found in ancient Greek pottery, reinterpreted with a modern color palette. The dog in the logo also takes cues from ancient Greek art, updated with softer, friendlier features that align with the brand’s approachable character.
App Design
Using Sketch, I developed an extensive app interface that balances visual lightness without sacrificing function. The design prioritizes fast information scanning for caretakers, achieved through thoughtful content blocking, clear iconography, and a legibility-first approach across the system.
Original Iconography
A custom icon system was developed to enhance legibility while conveying each animal’s personality to potential adopters. The icons are character-based and informed by real animals, designed to feel friendly and approachable without sacrificing clarity. High-contrast color pairings and minimal text work together to ensure information is communicated quickly, clearly, and consistently across the interface.
3D Animations
Using 3D models sourced online, I developed custom textures and a dynamic animation to demonstrate the system in use. The collar designs incorporate Ancient Greek–inspired patterns as a visual reference to the name ARGOS, paired with bright, contemporary colors that align with and reinforce the app’s visual system.
Motion
The final motion piece, featured at the top of this page, was produced using a combination of original recorded footage, stock assets, 3D animations, and 2D motion graphics. The piece opens with contextual information about the animal shelter system to establish the need for the product, then transitions into a detailed overview of the app and smart collar, highlighting their core features and demonstrating real-world functionality.
